Graffiti In Singapore
In 2012, I participated at a residency on the theme “Land” at Lasalle College of the Arts, Singapore. Because of its small size, Singapore has an ongoing project of “Land reclamation” -- raising the surrounding underwater land above the surface of the sea, increasing the available space.
Soon upon my arrival, I decided to create a traditional Chinese stamp saying 'Hili Land' in Chinese. Then I walked around the city marking different places with my stamp, breaking the strict laws prohibiting graffiti and trying to take ownership of sites that interested me. Later I photographed them, and exhibited the pictures in the residency show.
